For most of these textile pictures I have used the technique of reverse applique which involves layering up to ten different fabrics, stitching the design through this sandwich of fabrics with a sewing machine and then cutting back through the layers to reveal the underlying fabric.
Pedra Vista
I was inspired to make this panel after staying in a Mallorcan Countryside Villa. I drew the various artifacts displayed in the villa and used that as the template for the reverse applique. This image was included in Val Holmes's book, Creative Recycling in Emboidery.
