Political instability causes thousands to leave their homelands and risk their lives on the open seas. Using materials which are mainly washed up by the tide this installation explores the migration and human vulnerability

This body of work developed as a response to tragedy of the bodies of drowned migrants which were being washed up on beaches. around Mediterranean. At the time I was also on holiday, staying by the sea. As I walked along the beach collecting items on the tideline, I made a connections between these objects and the numerous lives being lost.

I specifically made spoons and utensils for the associative and symbolic connotations with survival, nourishment and nurturing and also because these are often items migrants take of their journey in order to feed themselves along the way.
