Political instability causes thousands to leave their homelands and risk their lives on the open seas. Using materials which are mainly washed up by the tide this installation explores the migration and human vulnerability
This body of work developed as a response to tragedy of the bodies of drowned migrants which were being washed up on beaches. around Mediterranean. At th time I was also on holiday staying by the sea. As I walked along the beach beach collecting items which had been washed up by the tide, I made a connection between these objects and the lives being lost,
Using the items I found I made spoons and utensils as these are often items take of their journey in order to feed themselves along the way.
This project is an ongoing collection which now incorporates all my journeys as I am always find new objects to respond to
