For as long as I can remember I have used vessels in my art practice as a vehicle to explore my ideas around domesticity memory. As objects pass through our hands leave traces and imprints of ourselves on them.
This collection approaches the vessel from a different perspective and looks at etymological roots and symbolism of the word vessel from an embodied perspective. The word vessel, which stems from the Sanskrit ‘kumbh’, was used to refer to womb, mother, bounty and female body, This resonates with t the humble pot's use as a domestic item and as a container for the body.
Most of these vessesl have been made using my own collection of pots as a form.

These hollow forms imply both a presence now absent and a potential not yet present
